So I left about 4 days ago(I lost track of time) My original EVA economy class flight got delayed and I was lucky enough to get free passes for business class on China Airlines to Taiwan for transit. And guess what? the taiwanese gurl group SHE was sitting next to me. xD Too bad I'm not their fan and she didnt wanna admit that she is from the group though (cause I could hardly recognize her)

Last Week

No, not last(previous) week. As in, my last(final) week in Malaysia. What am I gonna do this final week? I really don't know... I guess, I'd spend more time at home with my family. Probably only go out when its inevitable. End of the week I'll have a small gathering, with (hopefully) most of the people im closer with during my college time here, take some pictures, cry a little, then I'm off on Sunday. Pretty sad to leave this place now, as much as I hate this country. Am reminded of Kei when she had to leave before this, telling me how she'd miss here and I told her "to hell with this retarded place, better live elsewhere". Ironically its happening to me now ahaha. Guess we all find it hard to change sometimes. But change is inevitable.

I want to get out of here. I long for a better life. I believe this new place would provide for me exactly that. I am young. I am adventurous. I dare to try new things. And I have absolutely nothing to lose.

It's Valentines Day + first day of Chinese New Year both ON THE SAME DAY this year.
More people would be happier this year since this day comes only once in... I dunno how many years...

Those without a loved one to celebrate with this year can celebrate Chinese New Year with the family instead of their usualy bunch of pathetic single friends.
Those who don't celebrate Chinese New Year can still join in the meriah-ness by celebrating Vday/SAD.

Too good to be true? Perhaps.
But it seems I won't be celebrating CNY next year with my family(maybe even the year after that) And I also won't be celebrating my 20th birthday in Malaysia. Whether or not this is good news is still beyond me. But I do know that the longer I stay here, the more compelled I feel to leave.

19 years of Malaysia's bullshit? more than enough thank you. I figured, the only things I will miss most here are my family and the food. I hope I'm not expecting too much out of the States, but I do believe life there would be ALOT better than here.

That said, visa, check. Air tickets, check for 7th March, Only left packing to do... Awfully early, I know. Its a good thing

Bullshit story(Rough draft with exagerrated facts),

As a kid, I was always drawn to instruments or anything that could produce music. My dad plays the organ, and when I was at a young age of 2 I would already sit in front of the organ for hours and simply hit the notes. When I got older, realizing my interest in music, my parents enrolled me into Junior Music courses whereby I was taught simple rhythms and Do Re Mi. After that, I showed interest in piano and was quickly enrolled into Piano classes. Classically taught, I learned piano for 7 years afterwhich I realised classical lessons was rigid and didnt have much room for me to explore my creativity.

As an active teenager, I was then influenced by Rock music by bands like 'Muse' and 'Guns and Roses'. That got me learning a new instrument which was the guitar. I got into high school and joined a band. Together with new friends, we rocked the stage at every school event and that was my first experience of performing on stage. Leaving high school, I was depressed. It was as if something was missing from my life. And then I realised what it was. It was the addiction of performing. I was addicted to rocking it out onstage. Thats when I made a life-changing decision. That is, to choose a career in music and dedicate my life to it, despite opposition from relatives and family.
That is when I found M.I. I mean, What better reason to attend M.I than to chase a childhood dream? I believe M.I will be able to provide me with what I need to accomplish this dream.

So I'm Rushing like mad now to make it in time for Spring intake at Musician's Institute(M.I.)
I have got so many documents to procure and extra exams to take (incl. maths, english, writing)...
I think its too much to take for this oldman, I have not been a good oldman to practice maths everyday, heck I haven't touched a single maths question(apart from counting my expenses) since after SPM... Do I REALLLY have to submit such documents to a music college? I don't see the relation there...

Application form - Done
Essay? tomorrow =P

Two-Oh-Ten

So 2009 came and gone without a warning. Without as little as a seabreeze to mark the start of a new year, here I am, a week into 2010. I won't dwell much on the past year(even though there is much to tell and even more to show) 2009 seemed like just yesterday and I truly believe that I have learned alot from it. From tributes to emcee-ing for friday performances, from being band leader to playing in awesome gigs with awesome bandmates, from failing to passing, from having high hopes to being let down. Yes, 2009 was indeed an awesome year spent with amazing people and everyday was one well spent.
Thank you 2009 for providing me much opportunity and added spice to my otherwise boring life.

Two-Oh-Ten is gonna be a mystery for now. Who knows, few months down the road I might be writing this blog from the other side of the world heh... Hope to see you there

The Boredom Theory

So I thought of this theory some time ago right,

It started with the hypothesis: How come we have fewer 'geniuses' now compared to the time of Beethoven or Van Gogh?

Well it dawned on me that centuries ago, people lived easy lives. Everything was simple for them then, they lived in a simple house, had simple work, even love wasn't as complicated. They ate simple meals everyday and everybody was so happy then. They did not desire much, did not have much, and yet they were happy. Happy as anyone could be in a modern world.

So because they had nothing else to do, they decide to do what they like best. The average painter would draw or paint everyday, the musician would play piano or compose music everyday and they would do nothing else but that for the rest of the day. They never had internet, never had TV drama series, or blockbuster movies to entertain themselves with. And so they would do that for the rest of their simple lives until what was once an average painter/musician who did what they loved as a hobby and out of boredom, becomes a 'genius' of their own time. Oh the irony!

People back then have so much free time. So much simplicity in their lives. I'd say if you gave Beethoven a Facebook account, he might not have been so 'genius'

Having said all that, conclusion is, Geniuses are not born, they are bred.

PS: This post was done out of boredom as well, so maybe one day, I will viewed as a genius.
PS2: because the post was done out of boredom, there are no true facts supporting this theory, it is all purely based on boredom. So please keep the flaming to yourself.

I gave myself some time to calm down before I post what happened. This, afterall, is supposed to be a blog about good things. Thus I try not to rant too much.

I just have to say, I never regretted it. Not one bit. It was all worth it, the time spent, the travel, the money. And for what its worth, you are a wonderful person to me and I'm definitely thankful and grateful to have known you. But alas, trying to clap with one hand is futile, unproductive, and stupid. We live in different worlds and lead different lives. Things are fine just the way it is and I couldn't have asked for more. Knowing you in itself was an honor, caring for you was a pleasure, but its about time I let you go. With that, I wish you ultimate happiness in all the things you do in life, may you never regret the choices you make and people around you love you for who you are. I'll always be here, only as a friend.

Some really bored stalkers have been pestering me to update my page cause they are so bored they wanna know how bored I am.
It has been the longest since I last posted on this page, in fact it has been the longest since I REALLY did anything at all. The past months were filled with:

The Great Gig, K.I.Z.U.N.A

The gig was fantastic, everything went well, and everyone enjoyed it. We completely blasted the roofs off despite the organizers warning not to.

Few people I'd like to personally thank, for without them, it wouldn't have been such a success.
1) Jay and Hui Kee or SoM.net for giving us a chance to play. Without them we wouldn't have existed.
2) Lex for volunteering to help with our sound. Without him we would've been as happening as a portable radio blasted as full volume.
3) Joyce Tedoen for the documenting the event with the amazing amazing photos you're looking at above.
4) My family for paying RM21 entrance fees to support.
5) All the people who were there witnessing the show as well as my very generous ICoM friends who were willing to pay RM7 each just to come in and watch us.
6) Of course, I couldn't thank my own band more, for all the effort they each put in for the gig.

And many weeks I have not updated, why? because i was so so extremely busy with stuff.
Before I get ahead of myself, Jasmine was so happy and appreciative that I sent her Taylor Swift's latest album. I never expected such appreciation but nevertheless was and am so happy I chose the right gift(after hours of deciding) Hint: check her blogspace

Performance Studies class used to be fun, but has turned into a tedious routine now due to a certain lecturer we all fear, love and respect at the same time. I shall not mention names, but we all know who it is.

Finally, I was asked a favour from Joanna in which, During her absence, i was to assist Jeannie when shes playing the keyboard for a theater show in KLPac called "What does it mean to be free?" done by Teens for Young People[T4YP] I will not get into what the play is all about, but it was rather a great experience working with the director and actors and actresses and I really really learned ALOT.
Audience reviews were as follows:
"One of the best shows EVER in KLPac"
"It was a breakthrough for the local malaysian theater scene"
"It was too bad it lasted only four nights"

I think the music played a huge part in the show even though I only ended up doing sound for them.(on a low level) and part time vocal warm up exercises haha.
If given another chance, I would really work with them again. Really really fun bunch to work with.

And after all that, I'm dead tired, and I need sleep. Been lacking sleep for one week, and my neck aches like i got hit by a baseball bat....

Baby Peterpan Pt. II

Okay, so i've thought alot about my previous post about Brooke. And came up with several possibilities:

1) What would happen when humans continue to reproduce but babies stopped growing?
Obviously the world would end!! We would have babies flying with pixie dust in Never-Neverland!!!(PeterPan)

2) Now what if, the baby isn't "immortal" but is actually aging at a decelerated speed??
This would be a more logical approach as nothing is permanent in this world, This type of babies would be the next level of humans. As a result of aging at a decelerated speed, they have a longer lifespan than regular humans; maybe our one year of growth takes 10 years for them, maybe 50 years! Longer lifespan and decelerated physical growth would enable the human race to advance faster, experiments and researches can be conducted gazillion times and geniuses would live longer!
And looking at her miraculous health recoveries, it is also safe to assume this "next level" human being may possess evolved cell regeneration capabilities!! Where it could hibernate for several days or months depending on its condition and heal by itself!!

3) It is actually a Baby Genius =D

4) It is actually a Namek-jin(alien) from outerspace(Dragonball)

Now whatever you choose to believe is entirely up to you. But this baby has opened up endless possibilities science and medicine could never explain. Not in a hundred years. Not until the baby really grows up to become an adult can we really examine her. It is up to us to indulge ourselves with assumptions and theories beyond our craziest imaginations!

"Immortal" baby aka Baby Peterpan

Now we have all read or watched Peterpan since we were young. Peter was a boy who never wanted to age so he went to Never Neverland, a place where you could never age and stayed there. Apparently J.M Barrie was not writing about a fiction character after all!

I read this article recently on the papers about a baby who doesn't age. (Link)

"Brooke Greenberg is the size of an infant, with the mental capacity of a toddler. She turned 16 in January."

Says the website.
This has apparently baffled and intrugued scientists and doctors as they find nothing unusual about this baby at all. Plus the fact that she has come close to death several times with illness(stomach ulcers, stroke, diagnosed possible brain tumor etc.) but she miraculously survived from every one of those! People call this the "miracle baby" or the "fountain of youth" or even the next generation of genetics.

But really, if you sit down and think about it, What will happen to the world, when people continue to reproduce but babies never age? We get Immortal Babies.

First things first, I PASSED ALL MY SUBS FOR THE SEM!! YES I PASSED!!
ahem... that said, failing is not an option anymore. Eyes and Ears have to be alert, and hands gotta start moving, or somebody gonna get'a hurt REAL bad.

Next, I was almost death Deaf, well half deaf at least, cause I went diving on my langkawi vacation trip. Damn it was fun until i was half deaf... heh pics will be up soon..

Oh lastly, Jas finally got herself a blog. And she seems like having fun playing with it ahaha. Linky updated.

Other than that it has been a pretty damn boring holiday... ahh well, ones gotta have a vacation somehow eh.

Its raining hell out there. So much so that my power got cut off thus ending my desktop life and i had to post this through my lappy. Its good, its all good. Rain is good. Rain is cooling. Rain is better than heat.

Talking bout heat, the heat of assignments just cooled off yesterday. That is one big part of the semester taken care of. Hopefully i won't have to fail anything this sem. Counting down, 3 more days left till acoustics exam(which i thought was on next friday by the way) and after that, one day to moral exam...
Yet, I am still here wasting my time telling you what i have done and what i have not done.... oh well..

Anyways, life short is too short to be spent on studying... Take a look at this

Now, not a single soul has any use for a junk like that... But if you do the maths,
- a 10Mb Hard Drive costs $3398 back then a 100Mb should cost 10x of that
- a 1Gb Drive should cost 10x of a 100Mb drive
- a 10Gb Drive should cost 10x a 1Gb Drive
- a 100Gb Drive should cost 10x a 10Gb Drive

Thus, a standard 500Gb Hard Drive should cost about 5x a 100Gb Drive... that is 5000 x $3398
Now i know most of you failed maths back in highschool so i'll do the courtesy of calculating for you..
If you own a 500Gb drive(i know most of you do) technically you should be paying...(wait, theres too many numbers so my calculator broke.. i need to use pen and paper)... Technically a 500Gb drive should cost you $169, 900, 000...

Maths aside, Now if i had a time machine, i would warp to the past, sell my 1Tb Drive and be rich! =D

ITS HOTTT!!! The heat absolutely horrendously intense the past week!! Its so hot my keyboard is melting as I type this!!

Ahem.. anyways, recap time, stuff that happened past week:
1) Final Friday Performance - Where Mr. Frankie doo-dah failed to give us the metal we want
2) Spirits of Music tour - Where I met new people, some skillful others not so.
3) Ovira's 21st Birthday Party - Where a good plan was executed surprisingly almost perfectly well. And where I have new found respect for a few people.
4) Mother's Day - Spent at Italliannies

Ahh the concert at music mart went better than expected!! I've not seen the performance recording, but I received quite a few compliments from teachers as well as random unknown parents >.<

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I finally watched it, X-Men Origins: Wolverine(2009) was an awesome movie!
First thing that caught my interest was cause it finally showed one of my favourite X-men characters since young:

YESS GAMBIT! c'mon what could be cooler than tossing cut-through-brick poker cards and smashing the floor with a stick? wahahha
Its a pity he didn't get as many action scenes..(it was a Wolverine movie after all) but the short scene he displayed his powers was kickass! That said, he should've appeared much earlier in the X-Men's Trilogy

Ah moving on, deadpool aka Wade Wilson aka Merc with a mouth has "evolved" in the movie from Merc with a mouth to Merc with no mouth. From Deadpool, to Weapon XI AND HE HAS CYCLOPS EYES! LOL!

Its a pity how Deadpool turned out... Sucks sometimes how hollywood makes movies nowadays...
Another interesting fact is i noticed how very similar the character Deadpool is compared to Hideo Kojima's Frank Jaeger aka Gray Fox aka Null aka The Perfect Soldier in Metal Gear Solid Series.

Every once in a while you get the feeling people close to you move further away. Either because they have settled down with their significant other, left the country to pursue their dreams or they have their own things to do that doesn't include you. Either way, when the rate of people leaving your life is higher than the rate of you knowing people, thats when this "State of mind" comes in. Ah, I take this opportunity to congratulate all the new couples in college. College is so small that every gossip makes its way to our ears. The sem has definitely become much more interesting.

"Friends leaving the country, falling in love, living in their own world, having their own schedules, but somehow we were all connected once upon a time... It all seems so far away now..."

Ah heres a short snippet of The Eagles Tribute Concert 2009 we had in my college. The videos was captured entirely by me so if you want to use it elsewhere, it'd be best if you asked permission first ^^

It was an overall exhilarating experience! I hope to do something like that sometime soon!
That being said, I'll be debuting my singing with the song "Here Without You" by Three Doors Down for Music Mart's anniversary this Sunday.. Its a pretty boring song truth to be told, but i'm still trying to make it more interesting... Working with newbies can be quite a challenge.

Also, its already May 1st and I promised I would try to update this as often as possible(daily) from now on. So I make sure I'll update something of everything. ^^

The most ever surprising thing on friday was the discovery of the library's cd collection. Well, i knew they had CDs but I didnt know they had NICE CDs!!
Perhaps the most valuable gem out of all was an ORIGINAL copy of Kotaro Oshio's Be Happy album!!!
Upon this massive discovery, I ripped CDs by the stack, not giving mercy to anything that catches my eye. Soon, I was ripping CDs like peeling oranges!! I wish they updated the CDs more often =D Now the library is gonna be my new hangout place haha

Tribute was fantastically done!!! I still have edits to do though...
After tribute, hanging out at heritage was pretty cool. Kinda reminded me of NS minus the trainers but with WiFi haha
Other discoveries were also as exciting like all the new couples emerging in school, and new dance moves. It was if anything, a night and day full of discoveries!

Last week was just awesome!! It was such joy that I caught Jamiroquai Live in Malaysia 2009!! It was just... WOW!! hoooh!! Sorry I can't find the right words to express the feeling but... WOW!!
I went with two lenglui(haru and her cousin) then we met up with Ian, Tim and Joel at the venue.

Wish I had more time

I really wish i had more time to update posts here. my "blog" doesn't feel like a blog since its so dead..
anyways Skip the intro and get on with the point...
I just recently lost a very good friend. No he didn't die.. he just decided to study abroad for many many years. And even though i have not been in touch with him much recently, it was still a shock when i heard the news. He just left for india yesterday (3rd April 2009). Looking back at all the times we had together made me wonder, whatever happened to all those good old times we would spend as a kid, as a teen, playing, making mistakes, learning, falling in and out of love? It all seems so far away now...
I guess thats what life does to you. Nothing is ever permanent. People move on with the times, friends come and go, relationships make and break. You are almost never stuck in one place all the time and maybe thats what makes life so interesting. Maybe thats what makes life, life.

Anyways, even though I felt some kind of nostalgia thinking about it, I'm happy with my current situation. I guess I couldn't ask for a better life than to be able to do what I love to do. And all the new people I meet are so nice. This is where I belong now. I fully appreciate it. Thank you to all those that wished me during my birthday recently. Just knowing that you guys remembered my birthday(even though it was on facebook) and knowing that you took the effort to send me a message or post a comment on facebook wishing me made me feel loved and so much at home.

2009 so far has been looking very hopeful and many good things have come my way. I'm thinking, many more good things will come too. I will continue to work harder and achieve my dreams!

Jazz-mine

It was a terribly awesome and awestruck weekend last week.
Was in Penang for the 5th Penang Jazz Festival '08. Of course, that wasn't the only reason. Second motive was to meet Jasmine. Yes. For the very first time.

What can i say? It was magnificent! Both of them! Once I touched the hotel on Thursday, I phoned Jasmine and we went out for our first date! (not really together but still a date nonetheless) =P
We instantly clicked like we've known each other for years! We went together to watch Denise Mininfield as she blasted her way to the official opening of the Jazz Fest. Jasmine stayed with me all the way through and I think she enjoyed it(u did, didn't you?).

Second day I had nothing prepared. Jasmine had class and tests in the day so I spent the day with my family and supposedly spend the night with Hanz but and unexpected invitation to Jas's hostel had made me cancell the plan..(sorry I lied hanz.. pls understand.. >.<)

Third day of the fest, Jas wanted to spend the day with her friends and then later return to her home so I spent the day by myself, attending workshop after workshop and one fringe performance after another until the REAL performance came at night. Met Cliff and Jo there, and they were trying to annoy me by being all lovey dovey -___-

Fourth day was the one I really looked forward to since I took the privillege to buy Jas a ticket and really looked forward to watch the night performance with her, but misfortune struck. Jas was really sick in bed and there was nothing she could do about it. My bro ended up using the extra ticket.

Perhaps it was karma that struck me. Maybe because I had lied to Hanz that this happened. I really wished I could've been there by her side when she was sick and I wished that I had a chance to repay her for all that she have done for me in the first two days and I wished I had seen her again before I left the island. But those are all selfish requests.

I wish her well and was fortunate enough to met an awesome girl like her in this mundane life of mine. I guess one cannot have ALL of everything they want. At least, I was able to spend time with an awesome girl for the first two days of the vacation and the next two days spent on learning new jazz. My only biggest regret was, we never got to take a picture together. But I believe we will meet again. I will be ready when that time comes. Till then, the fantastic Jazz-mine experience will be forever playing in my mind like a sweet melody

Being Bored

Despite being bored the past few weeks, I couldn't get myself to post anything nor write anything of interest. however I DID learn new things. The most important one being Win-Doze suck as an OS... The next time I go out to buy a new comp or lappy I'm gonna tell the shopkeeper to hell with Win-Doze and save that extra RM300 for something more useful =P

So I'm not going to update every single detail of my life here. Shoot me. But if I DON'T then the blogs gonna be really empty!! Oh noes!! So an idea came around. Ima gonna take some time to write some random short story and post it up once I am done with it! That way, from the story, it gives a hint on what has been happening and where my ideas and views came from!

Just generally though, I've been going out with Mel rather often recently, like twice in three weeks? recently it was to Summer Splash 08 or rather, Summer Sweat cause we were drenched in sweat waiting in line to go in only to be disappointed that it was full -__-
Owh and Metal Gear Solid 4 Launch at TecAsia is in exactly 23 hours and 24 minutes. I'm gonna be there #1 in queue!! xD
Thats about it, the updates. Pretty darn boring. Oh, College starts only on 14th July... A long way to go, this boredom that is...

Audition Review

College placement audition had come and gone. The result? Not satisfying. The performance went on fine, until they asked me to "play by ear"... I was entirely disappointed with myself for not being able to play those phrases correctly. And I thought my hearing was good.. heh.
To add oil to fire, the next few students who were auditioning were WAAY better. Then along came Poh Hock with his "cheap" yamaha guitar, but not so "cheap" guitar skills. His audition totally pwned all of us sitting there. He reminded me how both of us, albeit the same age, same results for spm, both went for NS, both have a passion for music can have THIS much difference in skill level. After witnessing his audition, I started to feel inferior to these people. This was certainly MY world, but I don't quite fit in... YET!

STILL, I know theres alot to learn but I will learn as much as I can and hopefully, before the REAL thing starts in July, I will be ready and at par with the other students. Yes, its pressuring me like never before, even I never imagined going to a Music School would pressure me this much. It was all very unexpected. Yet, I have to learn to accept the pressure cause the pressure is pushing me to move forward. Without it, I'll probably be stuck here forever.

Mom: Don't worry, you go to this school to learn, I'm sure they will teach you all the stuff eventually..
Mr. Ang: You look more worried since you auditioned. Take it easy, let loose yourself. After all its(music) all about having fun no?

Ah well, thats it then. I'll just have to work harder now. And like Aisyah said, I'm finally taking something seriously, heck I've ALWAYS took music seriously! Its just that there are some people who are more serious than me xD

Sunburst KL International Music Festival!! 15th March 2008

Ok, old news, I know. I post slow, so what? Its been a really busy week, with my college auditions coming up.

Sunburst was reaaally cool!! I actually planned to go with a chick cause sitting in camp too long was making me GAY!! But guess what? I ended up going with Neal haha! All the chicks I invited were too busy, partly because it was too last minute >.<

To make the ticket worth it, we went at as early as 3.00pm. and the first performance we saw was GIGI(tooth/teeth in english)!! lol its an indonesian band and DAMN were they good!

After that, It started to rain reaaally heavily! But we still stood on to watch Pop Shuvit because they we're probably the only M'sian band that was good. The other M'sian band were really inaudible!! Seriously they're HORRIBLE!!

We were dancing to George Clinton and swaying to Incognito after that. But personally, I thought the main event that night was John Legend, not Incubus. He took a while to appear, but it was worth the while.

Highlight of the night

After that of course, we went for Incubus and then to Asia Cafe for supper. I reached home at 4.00am, the latest I've stayed out until and also the first time. Hopefully it isn't the last =P
All in all, I had a great time listening to guitar solos, keyboard solos, trumpet solos, saxophone solo, tuba solo and many more~ Going out until dawn was fun too ^^ Oh and we met a some hot bollywood indian chicks from Indonesia. Too bad I didn't get a photo of them >.< Initially, I planned to get to know some local music scene. But after hearing the "noise" from some bands, I decided against it. In the end, we ended up watching most(if not all) of the international bands(except pop shuvit)

the First Post

Today, 14th march 2008 is the official launching date of my first blog!! *applauds*
I've been wanting to create a blog site for a long time, but just haven't got the time to do so. I just got back from National Service camp so now, i have about a week or two of relax time. Free from stress, free from pressure, free from studies. Just two weeks of PURE relax time to do anything I want ^^

Honestly, I have no idea what I'm gonna blog here. I guess , if nothing comes to mind then I'll start randomly ranting everything I come across. So don't expect much from my blog. Until I think of a SPECIFIC topic, they rest will probably be very random.
